In 2021 the Okahandja Highlanders were formed, with its foundation built on the development of the Sports and creating a safe platform for players to grow and become top athletes. The Club officially registered to be part of the Namibian Rugby Domestic League in 2023 for the first time and registered 62 players on the roster.

We are proud of the opportunities we provide for the young players of Highlanders Sports Club and we strive to provide pathways for our athletes to achieve their goals. Our Club continues to encourage all our members to compete at the highest possible levels. Every year we have a significant number of players selected to represent the Club. Our staff are also encouraged to expand their horizons in acquiring coaching badges, sports administrative workshops, and accreditations in other sporting fields.

In 2023 the Senior Women’s Rugby section was added to the Club’s portfolio, to grow the Women’s game in our Town as well as the surrounding Regions, and introduce a Women’s team into the League, which only realized in 2025.

The Club the successfully introduced the Okahandja Highlanders Netball team in 2024. The team made its debut in 2025, in the Otjozondjupa Netball League, playing seven games for the season.

The Club successfully integrated the Female Rugby Team in August 2025. The Team is now registered to play in the Women’s League Competition for the Season 2026.
